Press Release: Public Service Alliance (PSA) Launches First Marketplace for America’s Public Servants
New platform offers free and more affordable services to help better protect privacy and security, mitigate legal risk, and support personal and professional well-being
Today, the Public Service Alliance (PSA) – a nonpartisan organization that empowers America’s current and former public servants across political lines to better protect themselves and their families through tech-enabled products, public education, and reform – publicly launched the first-ever marketplace designed to connect America’s estimated 23 million current and former public servants with free resources and discounted third-party services to help protect their privacy and security, mitigate legal risk, and support their personal and professional well-being.
Developed in 2024, PSA is a response to public service in America being more dangerous today than it has been in recent memory – not only for current and former officials, but also for their families and even their children – with threats escalating over the last decade. After months of quietly helping hundreds of at-risk individuals, PSA is launching its new platform to continue meeting the urgent need:
- Threats have skyrocketed: The number of people federally charged for making violent threats against public officials of all backgrounds nearly doubled between 2016 and 2022. Nearly 90% of state legislators and over 50% of local officeholders experienced threats or attacks, or other forms of abuse such as stalking, between 2021 and 2024. The U.S. Capitol Police investigated over 9,400 threatening statements and direct threats to members of Congress, their families, and their staff in 2024, more than double the number from 2017. Threats to federal judges have doubled since 2021 – a pattern also reflected at the state court level – with threats impacting Supreme Court Justices, including Justice Kavanaugh and Justice Sotomayor, among others.
- Anyone can be a target: Both prominent leaders and everyday public servants are vulnerable, especially since their personal information is easily found online. The June 2025 murder of Minnesota State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband and the attempted assassination of Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman and his wife tragically highlight the severity of the risk.
- People are deterred from serving their communities: Threats are discouraging Americans from running for office and serving in government, undermining our country’s ability to recruit and retain the best and the brightest public servants.
- Most face it alone: Public servants often confront these dangers without adequate resources or support for themselves or their families.
“Threats to public servants and their families have surged over the past decade, with no scalable support for those at risk. This is a broken business model for effective government and undermines everything America stands for,” said Isabella Ulloa, PSA Founder & CEO. “As Americans, we should all be able to disagree without promoting violence or threatening lives and livelihoods. At PSA, we’re building scalable solutions to better protect the people who serve our communities, across party lines.”
“Americans deserve a government that delivers for all of us, which requires public servants to do their jobs free from violence, harassment, or intimidation — while being held to the highest standards,” said PSA’s Advisory Board. “Protecting their safety should not be partisan. We’re Republicans, Democrats, and Independents from government, business, and civil society, and are proud to partner with PSA to make public service safer.”
In under one year, PSA has:
- Helped nearly 1,000 current and former public servants through organic referrals.
- Secured partnerships and discounts from dozens of vetted third-party services, and curated dozens of free resources, saving PSA users significant time and money.
- Connected people to legal counsel and crisis resources within hours.
- Maintained a 100% user retention rate, with users referring to PSA as “a lifeline when no one else could or would help.”
- Formed an Advisory Board of bipartisan leaders from government, business, and civil society.
- Built a tech-enabled platform that delivers real solutions and is designed to serve the estimated over 23 million current and former public servants nationwide.
PSA serves anyone who serves or has served America, across party lines – including veterans and current and former federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial civil servants, political appointees, law enforcement, judges, lawmakers, emergency responders, and active-duty military. Through the PSA marketplace, these individuals can save time and money on the following four categories of free resources and discounted third-party services:
- Privacy & Security: Online data removal, threat monitoring, and expert guidance.
- Legal & Communications Risk: Low-cost access to attorneys and public relations experts. (PSA does not itself provide legal advice.)
- Career: Job coaches, recruiters, job boards, and financial resources.
- Well-Being: Personal coaches, stress management tools, and lifestyle services.
PSA will continue to expand its marketplace with free and discounted services that meet its users’ needs, while advocating for reforms to make public service safer. It plans to extend access to its platform to other at-risk groups later this year.
